Opting for a hotel in Tuscany – luxury, boutique or family

For some people, when finding accomodation, hotels are the only answer. They will tell you that they are on vacation so they want to be spoilt or treated like they are on vacation. The thought of venturing out to a supermarket in a foreign country seems crazy. Why would you want to cook for yourself? Why would you want to make your own bed? Of course, there are those that are dead set against the idea of spending their entire vacation in a hotel, but this is obviously up to the individual.

You can find some superb hotels in the heart of Tuscany with a lot of character and personality. There are hotels that will serve different purposes. For example you may want to settle for a luxury hotel in Florence or a boutique hotel in one of the smaller villages. The small hotels are a lot more personal so you have to decide if you want to go to a hotel where the staff are typically Italian, welcoming you like part of the family. Some may love this and others may find this intrusive, but this is just how Italians are. You will probably not find this at one of  the bigger hotels in one of the larger cities.

Make sure the hotel is suitable for families if that is what you are looking for. Some hotels will be especially designed for families so you may want to think about that option. Your best bet would probably be a family run hotel. Italians are fun-loving people and will take to kids in an instant so you won’t have a problem there. Going to a 5 star hotel in Tuscany is not going to be the best idea in a case like this.

Sometimes a really big hotel has foreign employees, which takes away the atmosphere and you may as well be in a New York Tuscan hotel. You may have seen Tuscan hotels popping up all over the place. Las Vegas has a couple of hotels and most of them have done a good job at creating an accurate decor and design that you will see in Tuscany, but what is missing is the atmosphere. Surely this plays a big role.

You may want to stay in a luxury hotel in Tuscany, but for those of us who can’t afford something like that you will be surprised at what you can find if you have a look around. I found a 3 star hotel in Florence and booked on the internet. It was in the center of town, right next door to a famous ice-cream shop. This was bascially a family run hotel with fantastic service and value and was all that was needed for the time spent in the area. To find something that suits you do your research and then look at reviews. Look on different sites so you get a better picture. You are not going to find 5 stars right the way through, but you will be able to get an overall idea.
